As the leading online platform on (Belgian) short films, Kortfilm.be has been contributing to the development of a profound film culture in Flanders and Brussels since 1999, focusing on film as an art form, and short film as a medium in its own right.
Since October 2022, Kortfilm.be has been in a new format and content. The platform expands with, in addition to texts and viewing tips, now also its own curated video on demand offer, in which there is room for fiction and non-fiction, animation and video art, experimentation and crossovers - and with a specific focus on recent and retrospective homegrown work.
Each Belgian film is presented with an explanatory and thought-provoking essay, and paired with a (substantively, thematically, formally or otherwise) complementary or contrasting non-Belgian short film, chosen by a guest curator from the international field.
